Welcome!
Season’s Greetings and Welcome to the inaugural edition of The Sonic Boom Standard!
Starting this week, this will be THE place to receive updates on the Sonic Boom program, including tournament recaps, player development highlights, coaching announcements, and news from the flag football world – as well as some nuggets of wisdom and humor we hope you’ll enjoy.
With those introductions made, here are a few items to ponder on this frigid afternoon of Monday, December 15, 2025…
Spring Player Combine
First off: Our Spring Player Combine is rapidly approaching!
As you’ve no doubt heard from the barrage of email and social media communications, the event will take place on Sunday, Jan 4 (10am-12pm) at Forekicks Taunton.
It is free to attend, it is not a tryout, and there is no commitment if you attend. This is merely an opportunity to meet the staff, have your questions answered, and have your player participate in some fun drills to evaluate which team and development track to place them on.
If you attend and then decide Sonic Boom isn’t for you, or that the schedule doesn’t line up with your already busy calendar, or that you don’t like our flashy teal colors, that is totally understood and there is no hard sell involved. (For those nodding along at that last bit on uniform colors, I also prefer the old-school football uniform look, but those don’t sell with the 8u crowd.)
However, if you are interested in the level of coaching and player development that we pride ourselves on at Sonic Boom, then we’d love to have you join the club!
Either way – please RSVP for the Combine if you have not already!
Coaching Staff Additions
Speaking of coaches, we are thrilled with the staff that we’ve begun assembling. I won’t spoil the news here because I’m planning on featuring the Coaching Staff in the next entry – but we think you’ll be impressed and perhaps even more intrigued about what we are aiming to build. If you can’t wait for the next entry to hear who we have lined up as coaches, feel free to follow us on Instagram (@sonicboomfootball) where we’ve already spilled the beans.
NFL Commits to Flag Football
In case you missed it – in the latest signal that the NFL is “All-In” on Flag Football, the league announced last week a major investment in a new professional flag football league.
“Today’s vote represents a critical step in establishing flag football as a premier global sport,” said Troy Vincent Sr., NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations. “We are developing the infrastructure to accelerate the game’s growth to new heights by creating a clear pathway for aspiring athletes to progress from youth and high school programs through college and now to the professional level. We look forward to forming a partnership to bring this vision to life and deliver a world-class professional flag football experience for elite athletes and fans alike.”
The sport of Flag Football is on the rise and Sonic Boom will be leading the charge locally.

Lastly, as we are smack in the middle of the Holiday Season, we want to wish all of our friends and families a wonderful next few weeks. It truly is the Most Wonderful Time of Year.
(P.S. If your family starts to get a little stir crazy with the school break, check out our two flag football clinics – taking place Dec 27 and Dec 30. Great way for the kids to burn off some pent-up energy!)
